Dyeing easter eggs and easter egg hunts are some of the most treasured of family activities! Here is a basic how-to on dyeing your own easter eggs. It's a fun activity you can try with your kids!

  • Food coloring
  • Bowls (1 for each color)
  • 2 cups of water per color
  • Spoons
  • Eggs
  • Paper towel
  • Vinegar
  • Cooking Oil

1. First, prepare your eggs. You can either hard boil your eggs or remove the yolks and whites from them. Hard-boiled eggs must be kept in the refrigerator, but you can keep empty egg shells indefinitely.

2. In each bowl, add 2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of food coloring, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil. Stir well.

3. Dip a prepared egg into one of the bowls and lift it out with a spoon. Wipe to remove excess oil with paper towel. You can then dip the egg into other colors or leave it the way it is.
